On Tuesday 7th, Multichoice officially announced the launch of Showmax Pro in select African countries to offer improved on-demand video streaming with live TV that covers football matches, music, and news.
The update comes at a time where streaming is the new normal for entertainment due to the forced lockdown in many countries that saw a push in online numbers.
Now, as a known fact by many, Showmax has been around for a while however it only offered video-on-demand content like movies, series among others. With the introduction of Showmax Pro, subscribers are in for a whole lot of live TV programmings such as music channels, news, and live sport streaming from SuperSport.
Currently, this new service is live in Nigeria and Kenya only with plans to roll out in more Sub-Saharan African countries over the next weeks.
Now one would ask, why would Multichoice do this with an already existing DSTv Now app, DSTv Premium and the long-awaited DSTv Explora on its way. Well, Showmax Pro prices are way cheaper as compared to DSTv packages and also comes in either for mobile or TV video quality with a cap on devices connected.
