Dedalus Global and Ibex Frontier have announced Jack Dorsey, the CEO and Co-Founder to Twitter as the closing keynote for this year’s virtual Africa Fintech Summit.
The keynote marks a year since he visited four African nations; Ethiopia, Ghana, Nigeria, and South Africa to meet with various tech leaders and incubation hubs.
His listening tour confirmed the consensus that Africa will define the future (especially the bitcoin one!). He has since held an active and insightful voice on the future of African fintech, in particular, the future of cryptocurrency. With an unbanked population of 66%, and a credit card penetration rate that averages 1.5%, the applications for crypto in sub-Saharan Africa only help solidify Dorsey’s interest in the continent.
The techpreneur’s love for Africa and Nigeria to be more precise ever since his visit can be seen as expressed from his Twitter account, just go ahead and scroll through.
Dorsey’s closing keynote will revolve around the concepts of decentralized finance and opportunities it creates for financial inclusion.
